Lupe [1]

In collaboration with neighbouring institutes, in particular the Institute for Ecology, the Institute for Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning offers several Bachelor and Master programmes.

Bachelor Programmes

Ecology and Environmental Planning [2]
Changes in the human environment, especially regarding nature and landscape, represent a great challenge to 21st century societies. The Bachelor programme in Ecology and Environmental Planning enables students to gain knowledge, skills, and the competency to meet these challenges with a focus on the sustainable development of urban and rural areas.

Landscape Architecture [4]
Students in the Bachelor programme of Landscape Architecture develop the skills to understand and design open spaces. Gaining skills in landscape architectural design is central to the programme. The working environment is diverse, spanning all scales from the concept, to the detail, to the implementation level.

Master Programmes

Ecology and Environmental Planning [5]
The academic and scientific-oriented Master programme of Ecology and Environmental Planning aims to deepen the theoretical basis as well as the ecological and environmental planning content that were first introduced in the Bachelor programme of Ecology and Environmental Planning, or similar Bachelor programmes. The Master programme trains students to reflect on problems and process questions in a scientific manner and at an advanced level in the framework of diverse research projects

Environmental Planning [6]
The English-language international Master programme for Environmental Planning aims to deepen and expand students’ skills in the area of Environmental Planning at an advanced level. A special focus is placed on promoting the skill to develop scientifically sound solutions for current and future environmental challenges in diverse working contexts, for example, in research, public administration, environmental NGOs, Think Tanks, or planning offices.

Landscape Architecture [7]
The Master programme in Landscape Architecture provides students the ability to understand, conceptualize, and design open spaces and landscapes on many scales. The Master programme aims to convey the central expertise of landscape architecture, including: design expressiveness, critical reflection, mastery of the material (building materials and plants), as well as scientific analysis.

Urban Design [8]
The Master programme in Urban Design encourages critical reflection on cities in terms of their design. Furthermore, the programme focuses on the processes of urbanization in the international context and addresses both historical as well as current developments. The programme’s focus is on city systems and spaces, from the borough to the regional level.
